Not copied from anyone - all my own thoughts!!

 

I coach kids who say things like “he/she’s better than me” or “I wish I was as good as them, they run faster/are more skilful etc” but football is a team game.

 

Lionel Messi is “pretty good” but when he doesn’t have a ball and I don’t have a ball who is the best footballer? The fact is that he’s no better at football without a ball than me!

 

So - to that youngster - I say Lionel Messi is only as good as someone who gets the ball to him - that could be you (the one who’s “not as good”!!)

 

If you don’t understand, you don’t know football!!
